URI researchers from the Department of Marine Affairs in concert with the Department of Landscape Architecture developed three resilience concepts. The development of these concepts began within the Fall 2014 Senior Landscape Architecture studio focusing on resilient and sustainable design for the port of Providence. Researchers further refined these concepts as tools for discussion with port stakeholders. These concepts are being used as a way to organize possible adaptation strategies, in reality aspects from each of these concepts will be used to make the port of Providence a resilience location to conduct maritime business.
Accommodate consists of altering port infrastructure and buildings in their current locations to limit impact from surge and other hurricane impacts. For more information please click on the below link.
